Hello my name is Carrie Wallace from Kiddy Cooks. On behalf of KidsandCooking.co.uk, I’m going to show you how to make Gingernut Biscuits with your children.

First of all you put the flour, the ginger, the bicarbonate of soda and the sugar in a bowl. And then you ask the children to make fine breadcrumbs with the butter when you add the butter into the flour mixture. Then you add the syrup - 1 tablespoon of syrup and it becomes a nice sticky mass you ask your children to stir it around. When all of the flour is incorporated in to the syrup, you divide the mixture into 12 pieces.

Sprinkle a few caraway seeds on, butter in; tiny spot of water doesn’t really need to cover the carrots, and a sprinkle of sugar.

All we are going to do now is let the carrots, water and sugar evaporate. When cooking the carrots it is important that you don’t add salt at this stage, as the salt content will increase with the butter and the water. The second thing is too be careful that the carrots don’t burn.
