Celebrate seventy-five years of joy with this new edition featuring more than four thousand recipes classic and new.

Welcome to a whole new generation of joy. A slow cooker is one of the best kitchen gadgets around. There are few things more satisfying or convenient then coming home at the end of a long day to the wonderful aroma of a meal that is essentially cooked itself. The joy seventy-fifth anniversary edition is the perfect companion to the slow cooker. Every one will think you slaved in the kitchen all day. This warming chicken dish with its combination of lightly savoring lemon flavors is perfect for a supper on a crisp warm evening.

Here we have four ten ounce chicken breast that we seasoned and placed skin side down on a heavy skillet. Many recipes call for putting warm meat and vegetable right in your slow cooker but to punch up the flavour brown meat and sautéed vegetables before adding to the pot. It might take an additional fifteen minutes but the added flavor is the worthy extra time. Once the skin is golden, we will remove the chicken and set aside. Now we have drained out all but a tablespoon of fat from the skillet and added some six ounces soaked ham.
