Celebrate 75 years of Joy with this new edition, featuring more than 4000 recipes classic and new.

Welcome to a whole new generation of Joy. A slow cooker is one the best kitchen gadgets around. There are few things more satisfying or convenient than coming home at the end of a long day to the wonderful aroma of a meal that’s essentially cooked itself. The Joy 75th anniversary edition is the perfect companion to the slow cooker. Everyone will think you’ve slaved in the kitchen all day. This warming chicken dish with its combination of lightly savory mellow flavors is perfect for a supper on a crisp fall evening.

Here we have 4 10 ounce chicken breasts that we’ve seasoned and placed skin side down in a heavy skillet. Many recipes call for putting raw meat and vegetables right into your slow cooker. But to punch up the flavor brown meat and sauté vegetables before adding to the pot. It might take an additional 15 minutes but the added flavor is worth the extra time. Once the skin is golden we’ll remove the chicken and set aside.

Now we’ve drained off all but a tablespoon of fat from the skillet.
