Hi, I’m Rita Heikenfeld and welcome to Love Starts in the Kitchen. Talking about recipes in my recipe hall of fame, this is at the top of the list.

They’re called fire and ice pickles, so easy, so delicious; you’ll want to make these often. For football games, just for family gatherings, to go along side your bologna sandwich, whatever. Not what you want to start of with is those generic dills, just a crosscut, the very inexpensive, not kosher, not anything, plain old crosscut dill slices. You want to take, you want about quart of those, and drain those really well.

Now what we’re going to do, still you’re not going to believe how easy this is, and don’t panic, 2 cups of sugar, but you’re going to see why. 2 cups of sugar to 4 cups of pickles drained and that’s the fire and ice, that’s the, that’s the ice part, and the fire part is a shake of crushed red pepper flakes. Now if you’re serving people who don’t like the fire, leave it out, it’s ok. What you’re going to do next is take one clove of garlic and you’re going to smash it.
