Pomegranates and pomegranate juice is very popular these days. They are great in all sorts of recipes but getting into them can kinda be intimidating.
They’re solid and you know there are seeds in there, you know that they are messy; you know they’re hard to get apart. Peeling all the pith inside is a pain in the behind and you just wanna be able to do it quickly and easily. And – uh- a great way to prepare a pomegranate is to do it over a bowl of water and drop the seeds into the water. I’m gonna show you how to do it. First you got to crack this guy open what I like to do is sort of feel it and see any sort of sucked in parts – ideally you don’t have one that is too sucked in but I like to find a place where it clearly doesn’t have a whole bunch of seeds right there.
I just take a small paring knife and make a little bit of an incision in the skin. Then I dig my finger in and I start trying to pull it apart.
