A vegetable burrito has tortillas from the grain group, cheese and yoghurt from the dairy group and kidney beans from the protein category.
This dish contains an awesome mix of vegetables. Vegetables have little or no fat and are a rich source of healthy carotenoids. Carotenoids make fruits and vegetables colorful. They’re the reason lemons are yellow, red peppers are red and carrots are orange. Carotenoids make our food look good to eat but they also protect our bodies from illness. The cheese gives you plenty of calcium and protein. Drink a glass of milk with your burrito and you’ll have half of your daily bone building calcium. Let’s go to the kitchen and see how they put these burritos together.
Well we’re here with Katreina and Nicole, couple of girl scouts and you guys are troop what?
Two thirty three.
Two thirty three, and now what’s cool about girl scouts, you already know how to cook a little bit right?
Yeah.
You like to cook?
yeah.
Good. Well this is a great recipe. This is a vegetarian burrito. Now what I’ve done is sautéed onions and peppers and beans in here and I’ve put some of my chilli spices, so it’s not real hot, but it’s got some nice flavor.
